The Swatch Freeride World Tour is Back!
January 05 2013
In conjunction with the Revelstoke Accommodation Association, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is excited to welcome the return of the Swatch Freeride World Tour!
With the addition of the Swatch Freeride World Tour last winter and now the amalgamation with The North Face Masters of Snowboarding, the new "Swatch Freeride World Tour by The North Face" is sure to be a spectacular event. The tour circuit includes 6 world class venues with Revelstoke Mountain Resort as the first stop on the list - the ONLY resort in Canada and 1 of 2 in North America to host this incredible 5-star championship event. Revelstoke Mountain Resort is thrilled to see the FWT return this winter with even more talent (if you can believe it) than ever before!
The success of joining with the Swatch Freeride at Revelstoke last winter was noted by American skier Drew Tabke in the official release from Mountain Sports International;
"The best event last year was the combined event at Revelstoke. This event represented the ideal outcome of this merger of the two tours—a legitimate representation of the world's best riders competing on a world-class venue."
With the addition of The North Face Masters of Snowboarding, the calibre of athletes and their incredible athletic demonstrations should make for an exhilarating spectacle! The main event is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 7, 2013 on a slope that has become known as "Mac Daddy", located on the East Face of Mount Mackenzie (weather dependent). Mac Daddy is a 2,500 vertical feet face, featuring steep lines and plenty of natural features, making it the perfect venue for a big mountain freeski/freeride competition.
Coinciding with the Swatch Freeride World Tour is the "Revelstoke Freeride Fest". The Freeride Fest is a festival of events in the community of Revelstoke featuring skiing, snowboarding, parties and entertainment. Freeride Fest runs from January 4 - 12, 2013. Visit the Revelstoke Freeride Fest Facebook Page for a complete listing of events.

Soar thousands of feet above the valley, explore on snowshoes, or dash through the snow in a dogsled.
