What's New for the 2008-2009 Season
Construction continues on the new resort village, opening for the 2008-2009 ski season. Amenities will include a full-service restaurant, retail and rental shops, and lift ticket and skier services. By the fall of 2008, the first of three condo hotels in the Nelsen Lodge complex will open with 59 condo units managed by Boutique Hotels & Resorts of British Columbia. By 2009, total residential development will grow to include 24 luxury townhomes, more than 200 units in the three Nelsen Lodge buildings, and over 50 single-family estate lots, several zoned for private helicopter landing pads.
- Extension of the gondola from the upper village to the village base, increasing the vertical by 885 feet. With a total of 1,713 metres (5,620 feet), Revelstoke Mountain Resort will have the longest lift-serviced vertical descent in North America!
- Construction of a new, high-speed quad chairlift in the North Bowl area, opening up an additional 364 hectares (900 acres) of intermediate terrain (ski runs and tree skiing), as well as 121 hectares (300 acres) of additional expert skiing.
- Extensive glading and trail cutting throughout the resort’s ski terrain.
- Purchase of two snowcats (one winch cat and one grooming cat).
- Expansion of Revelstoke Cat Skiing’s terrain to 1,242 hectares (3,070 acres).
- Increased glading and run development within the existing 200,000 hectares (500,000 acres) of Selkirk Tangiers Helicopter Skiing’s tenured terrain.
- Parking for 1,000 vehicles in the village.
When Revelstoke Mountain Resort opens for the 2008-2009 season, it will be the only resort in the world offering lift-skiing, cat-skiing, and helicopter skiing right from the village base.
