Development Update for October 2021

October 20 2021

Despite the economic downturn of the Covid-19 pandemic, the development team at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is full steam ahead on a number of projects, including the 18-hole Cabot Pacific golf course, a new roundabout, 154 room slopeside hotel, and the first phase of employee housing.

Cabot Pacific

On October 25, 2021, Revelstoke Mountain Resort will commence the first phase of development on Cabot Pacific, an 18-hole championship golf course, which includes clearing and grubbing to prepare the land for construction.

The area in question is approximately 120 acres in size and includes land on the east and west sides of Camozzi Road, spanning from McInnes Road to Nichol Road, as well as a parcel adjacent to Airport Way. The first area to be cleared will be Holes 1 and 18.  A tree buffer zone will be maintained to ensure privacy for local residents.

Note, for the safety of the public, staff and contractors, access to the golf course lands is strictly prohibited. Please abide by the signage posted throughout the area and refrain from recreational use.

The second phase of the development will include the construction of the golf course and learning area. Cabot Pacific is anticipated to be open for play in 2024.

Roundabout at Nichol Road and Camozzi Road

Revelstoke Mountain Resort, the City of Revelstoke, and Mackenzie Village, recently began construction on a new roundabout at Nichol Road and Camozzi Road, along with the realignment of Camozzi Road. Once complete, this project will provide improved access to the Resort, upper Arrow Heights, and allow for future development. The roundabout construction is currently on schedule and estimated to be completed in November, 2021. The realignment of Camozzi Road is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2022.

New Slopeside Hotel

Continuing on with Phase Two of its Resort Master Plan, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is in the process of building a new luxury hotel across Camozzi Road from The Sutton Place Hotel. The new hotel will include 154 rooms, over 6,700 square feet of conference space, over 7,300 square feet for a restaurant and bar, along with integrated fitness and spa facilities. The hotel will  become the new home for Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing with 3 helipads adjacent to the property.

The Resort’s construction division is currently completing the necessary foundation work for this property, with plans to start vertical construction in spring 2022. The new hotel is estimated to be open for summer 2024.

Employee Housing

Revelstoke Mountain Resort is currently working with the City of Revelstoke to secure a development permit to begin construction on the first phase of employee housing. The first phase of construction includes a building with 90 apartment suites and parking for both employees and day use. Construction on this project is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2022 and is expected to be completed prior to both the golf course and hotel, with an estimated build time of 18-24 months.

For the upcoming winter season, Revelstoke Mountain Resort has secured additional housing with the purchase of the Revelstoke Backpacker Hostel. The Resort intends to use this property exclusively for staff housing with upwards of 40 beds available for the upcoming winter. “There is a significant shortfall of beds available in Revelstoke, and this property will help us bridge the gap until employee housing can be constructed at the Resort”, states Peter Nielsen, Vice President of Operations. “It is also important to note that we are not taking beds out of the long-term rental pool, but rather shifting some inventory away from the commercial sector.”

Reservoir

Over the last few months, Revelstoke Mountain Resort has been working on a new reservoir located above Monashee Estates on the Mountain Road. This infrastructure will provide adequate fire flow for existing and future development in the base area at the Resort, including commercial real estate, residential housing, and domestic use.
