Get Decked Out With R Gear
November 24 2014
There's nothing quite like getting bundled up for a day on the mountain.
It can be the best feeling in the world as you pull on your cozy socks, put on your warm base layer, sink into a puffy mid layer, and zip up that sharp looking GORETEX outer layer.
Or it can be the worst feeling in the world as you pull on those threadbare socks, put on your optimistically small base layer (cursing yourself for not getting the large) and zip up your jacket, which has about the water resistance of a sponge.
For years I fell solidly in category B, but after a trip to the newly expanded retail space, R Gear, I’m happy to announce I’ve edged into category A!
Located at the base of the mountain R Gear will have its grand re-opening November 24 with more offerings than ever before.
I got a sneak peak ( read: went shopping) of the new space and can confirm it has everything you could ever need in terms of functional and fashionable gear that you will be excited to layer on every day.
Along with the annual favorites of Arc'teryx, Black Diamond, Burton, Marmot, Salomon, Bula, Kombi, Scott, Oakley, Smith, Kuhl, Icebreaker, and BCA this year there are some exciting additions.
I spent a lot of time ogling the Alp N Rock collection that retail manager Donna Zmaeff says they are thrilled to offer for the first time this year.
“Alp N Rock offers unique lifestyle fashion for those who seek high quality and have a passion for an active outdoor life,” she explains. “They believe in giving back and donate up to 10 % of profits to fund scholarships to girls in developing countries.”
On top of that, their pieces are incredibly versatile meaning you can look great wherever you go and support a good cause at the same time. Hello Après!
But before you après there’s some powder to ski… and maybe you just need some updated accessories?
Don’t worry they’ve got you covered there as well- socks, gloves, hats, face masks, helmets, goggles, they have it all.
Bottom line, whatever you need to ski or snowboard in comfort they have it, and with their convenient location at the bottom of the mountain you can get what you need and be back on the slopes without missing a beat.
