Girls Do Ski 20 Under 20 Recap

January 23 2015

20 girls from across BC, Alberta and the United States were invited to participate in a Girls Do Ski freeski camp here at Revelstoke Mountain Resort this past Saturday, January 17.

The day was full of clinics, coaching and networking from local pro skiers Izzy Lynch and Leah Evans, founder and director of the organization that empowers female skiers through camps based at resorts, heli ski and cat ski operations throughout the province. Girls were selected based on their potential and promise as the next generation of freeskiers, and our minds were blown by the level of skill and determination this group displayed. If this weekend was any indication, female freeskiing is in for a massive growth spurt in the next few years. The future looks bright!

We’d like to give a huge shout out and special thanks to our hosts, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, who provided lift tickets for the day and graciously donated space for us to offer this camp free of charge to the 20 young shredders who took part in what some have already declared ‘the best day EVER’! Strong community partnerships build strong community members, and this weekend’s event was a testament to every resort and ski town that is working to inspire and encourage the growth of our sport through youth engagement and programs such as this.

Thanks, everyone. See you next year!
