King and Queen of the Mountain 2024 Recap
Unlike its traditional two-day format, this year's event was compacted into a single day of thrilling action.
Saturday, March 30th, witnessed an old-fashioned wild-west showdown at Revelstoke Mountain Resort as participants gathered for the annual King and Queen of the Mountain competition.
In a departure from convention, the organizers opted for a single-day winner-take-all terrain park battle, cutting the customary freeride day under the SWF chair. This alteration injected a fresh energy into the competition, presenting participants with an exciting challenge. To make up for the lost day, each rider would get three runs with the best score counting to secure a spot in the finals. Only the top six from each category would make it to the finals, where they were judged on the best of two runs for the podium.
Organizers could not have asked for better weather on the day of the competition. The sun shone on the competition course that featured every obstacle from rails to boxes and a selection of jumps ranging in size from small to extra-large. The RMR Park Team did an excellent job building and maintaining the competition course, and all of the riders were very pleased with the variety of the features, enabling them to use their creativity and build their unique runs.

Due to the large number of qualifying and final runs, the energy was high and constant throughout the day, and spectators were treated to nonstop action. All of the RMR Events Staff did an outstanding job in making sure the event ran smoothly and on time, which was no easy feat with the sheer amount of runs on the day.
As the sun was getting low in the sky and the day drew to a close, there was a distinct sense of camaraderie among the participants who often waited at the bottom of the course after their run to cheer on their friends and fellow competitors. Unfortunately, there can only be one King/Queen of the mountain. Congrats to this year’s royalty.
