ULTERIOR: Featuring Kye Petersen and Tanner Hall
The Pacific mountain ranges of BC and Alaska are home to some of the world’s most progressive backcountry skiers and terrain. These mountains have shaped skiers through features unique to this region—pillow zones, spine walls, and the very concept of freeskiing were born from these landscapes, their culture, and the characters who ride them. After nearly 50 years of exploration, there are still untouched areas offering first descents and the chance for even the best skiers to find the greatest line of their lives.
Ulterior tells a story of untracked adventure in never-before-ridden mountains, the family history behind pioneering these ranges, and the deep friendships forged over decades in dangerous terrain. It captures some of the strongest skiing filmed this decade—pioneering lines in the last frontier of the BC coast, as well as iconic zones like Haines, AK and Whistler, BC, first discovered by the athletes’ own mentors.
Ride along as we reveal this world through cutting-edge cinematography in remote regions, showcasing elite freeskiing progression across three major locations. At its core, it’s a story of discovery, partnership, and the emotions that come with riding big mountains.
