Join us for a unique experience during the Wildflower Festival as we delve into the fascinating world of edible invasive plants.
The Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society (CSISS) invites you to embark on an Edible Invasives Plant Identification walk, where we will explore the lower mountain terrain, uncovering both hidden and not-so-hidden plants and discovering their potential uses.
During this 1-2 hour hike, we will traverse the picturesque Bottoms Up Trail at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, immersing ourselves in the natural beauty of the Columbia-Shuswap region. Led by knowledgeable guides from CSISS, we will learn about the invasive plant species that have taken root in this area and their impact on the local ecosystem.
The highlight of the walk will be the opportunity to identify edible invasive plants and explore their potential culinary uses. CSISS, in collaboration with various agencies, non-profits, and individuals dedicated to preserving our environment, has been actively working to prevent and manage the spread of invasive species in the Columbia-Shuswap region. Through this event, they aim to raise awareness about these plants and their role in our surroundings.
