Wildflower Season at RMR
Why Wildflower Season is the Best Time to Visit Revelstoke Mountain Resort
Our upper mountain trails are surrounded by blooming meadows right now, making it one of the best times to explore the alpine. Whether you're hiking, biking, or sightseeing, you'll find it hard not to stop and soak it all in.
Every summer, for just a few short weeks, the high-alpine terrain transforms into a vibrant display of colour. Lupins, arnica, Alpine Lilies, and dozens of other native species burst into bloom across our meadows, creating a rare opportunity to experience the rugged beauty of the Selkirk Mountains at its most lush and lively.
Lift-Accessed Adventure
One of the best parts? You don’t need to be an elite backcountry hiker to reach these elevations. With the Revelation Gondola running daily, visitors can skip the long climb and access our upper alpine trails with ease. That means more time to enjoy the views, explore the ridgelines, and get up close with the wildflowers, without a full-day ascent.
From the top of the gondola, options range from mellow walks like Split Rock Falls to more advanced routes like the Stoke Climb or Subpeak Loop, offering something for all levels of hikers. Each trail rewards you with mountain views, and of course, blooming meadows that feel straight out of a postcard.
Why Now?
Wildflower season is brief, and timing your visit right can make all the difference. Snow typically lingers on the upper mountain well into early summer, with trails often becoming fully accessible by mid-to-late July. That’s when the magic starts.
As the snow melts, the alpine meadows quickly respond. By late July into early August, the wildflowers hit their peak, blanketing the landscape in vibrant yellows, purples, reds, and blues. This 2–3 week window offers the most dramatic display, especially on lift-accessed trails like the Stoke Climb, Subpeak Loop, and Greely Trail.
By late August, many of the blooms begin to fade as temperatures drop and the short alpine summer winds down. While the views are still spectacular, the dense flower carpets become patchier, and the meadows slowly return to their pre-winter state.
If you're hoping to catch Revelstoke’s alpine at its most colourful, late July through mid-August is the sweet spot. With warm days, accessible trails, and flowers in full bloom, this is the ideal time to plan your high-elevation hiking adventure.
